Frequently Asked Questions

Find answers to the most common questions about our eSIM service.

An eSIM (embedded SIM) is a digital SIM that allows you to activate a cellular plan without having to use a physical SIM card. It's built into your device and can be programmed with your carrier information digitally.
After purchasing an eSIM plan, you'll receive a QR code. Simply scan this QR code with your device to install the eSIM profile. Once installed, you can activate the data plan and start using mobile data in your destination country.
We recommend installing the eSIM before your trip but activating the data plan once you arrive at your destination. The validity period starts when the eSIM connects to a local network in the destination country.
Yes! The eSIM works alongside your existing SIM card. You can keep your regular phone number for calls and texts while using the eSIM for data. Just make sure to set the eSIM as your data line in your phone settings.
After purchase, you'll instantly receive a QR code. Use one tap install on your phone, or scan the QR code. Installation takes just 2 minutes.
Yes, we highly recommend installing the eSIM before you travel. You can install it at home and it will automatically connect when you arrive at your destination. This ensures you have data as soon as you land.
Most modern eSIM-compatible phones can store multiple eSIM profiles. However, typically only one eSIM can be active at a time along with a physical SIM. Check your device specifications for the exact number of supported profiles.
eSIM is supported on iPhone XS and later, Samsung Galaxy S20 and later, Google Pixel 3 and later, and many other modern smartphones. Check our compatibility page or your device manufacturer's website for a full list.
iPhones from iPhone XS (2018) onwards support eSIM, including iPhone XS, XR, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, and 16 series. Note that iPhones purchased in mainland China may not support eSIM.
Many Android phones support eSIM including Samsung Galaxy S20+, Google Pixel 3+, Huawei P40+, and others. The best way to check is to go to Settings โ†’ Connections โ†’ SIM Manager and see if there's an "Add eSIM" option.
Hotspot/tethering availability depends on the specific plan you purchase. Plans that include "Hotspot" in their features support tethering. Check the plan details before purchasing if this feature is important to you.
We offer a full refund if the eSIM has not been installed or activated. Once the eSIM has been installed on a device, we cannot process a refund. If you experience any issues, please contact our support team.
All our prices are displayed in Euros (EUR). Your bank may apply a small currency conversion fee if you're paying in a different currency.
When your data allowance is used up, the eSIM will stop providing data. You can purchase a new eSIM plan if you need more data. Your existing eSIM will remain installed on your device.
For most short-term travel, yes. eSIM avoids airport SIM queues, lets you install before flying, and you keep your home physical SIM for voice/SMS. Physical SIMs only beat eSIM in countries where the local prepaid plan is dramatically cheaper than any travel eSIM and you stay long enough to justify the swap.
Most travel eSIMs allow hotspot/tethering so you can power a laptop or share data with a travel partner. Some "unlimited" plans throttle hotspot speed after a daily cap โ€” check the product page before purchase.
Yes. Regional eSIMs cover multiple countries on a single QR profile (Europe 30/40, Asia 20, Balkans 5, Central America). Global eSIMs cover 100โ€“190 countries with one QR. Country plans only work in their listed country.
Usually yes โ€” once you turn airplane mode off after landing the eSIM connects to a partner network within seconds. If it does not connect, manually pick "Auto" network selection and toggle data roaming ON for the eSIM line (this is safe because the eSIM has its own prepaid allowance).
Yes. All iPhone XS and later support eSIM (US iPhone 14+ is eSIM-only). On Android: Google Pixel 4+, Samsung Galaxy S20+ globally, Galaxy S23/S24 in many regions, plus most modern Huawei, Oppo and Xiaomi flagships. Check Settings โ†’ Mobile/Cellular โ†’ "Add eSIM" before buying.
No โ€” travel eSIMs are data-only. Keep your home physical SIM as the voice/SMS line. Use WhatsApp, iMessage, Telegram, Signal, FaceTime or Google Voice for calls over the eSIM data line.
For most providers the validity countdown starts the first time the eSIM connects to a local network in the destination โ€” not at purchase. So you can buy days or weeks ahead without burning validity time.
Yes โ€” eSIMs that never installed or never activated can be refunded. Once you activate and consume data, partial refunds depend on the provider policy. Always check the refund terms before purchase.
Modern iPhones store at least 8 eSIM profiles (only 2 active at once). Most modern Androids store 5โ€“8 profiles. You can keep one eSIM per country/region and activate only the one you currently need.
Almost always. Pocket Wi-Fi devices cost โ‚ฌ5โ€“โ‚ฌ15 per day to rent, plus a daily data allowance. An eSIM for the same duration usually costs less than a single day of pocket Wi-Fi and you do not have to carry another device or charger.
